AF2013 vs AF2217: Which Walk-Behind Floor Scrubber Fits Your Route?
AF2013 and AF2217 are both commercial walk-behind floor scrubbers, but they solve different route problems. AF2013 prioritizes compact maneuverability. AF2217 adds powered traction, a wider cleaning path and larger tanks for longer routes.
AF2013 vs AF2217: Quick Comparison
| Factor | AF2013 | AF2217 |
|---|---|---|
| Machine type | Walk-behind | Self-propelled walk-behind |
| Working width | 20 in | 22 in |
| Solution / recovery tanks | 11 / 13 gal | 16 / 17 gal |
| Rated productivity | Up to 34,000 ft²/h | Up to 38,000 ft²/h |
| Runtime | Up to 5 h | Up to 4 h |
| Brush pressure | 66 lb | 88 lb |
| Battery | 24V 100Ah lithium | 24V 100Ah lithium |
| Powered traction | No | Yes |
Choose AF2013 When Maneuverability Matters More
AF2013 is the better fit when the route includes tighter aisles, smaller rooms, more turns, compact storage or frequent movement between separate cleaning zones. Its 20-inch working width and smaller tank system make it easier to handle in constrained commercial layouts.
It can also make sense when cleaning sessions are long but the total route does not justify a larger self-propelled machine.
Choose AF2217 When Pushing Effort Becomes the Bottleneck
AF2217 adds powered traction, so the operator guides the machine rather than supplying most of the pushing force. This matters on longer corridors, repeated warehouse lanes, larger retail routes and other areas where operator fatigue becomes part of the cleaning cost.
The 16/17-gallon tanks can also reduce refill and recovery-tank interruptions compared with AF2013.
Do Not Choose by Working Width Alone
A 2-inch difference in working width is not the main decision. Measure:
- Doorway and aisle width
- Turning space
- Distance the operator must walk
- Number of refill and drain stops
- Storage and charging space
- Floor type and soil load
Runtime Is Not the Same as Route Capacity
AF2013 is rated for up to 5 hours and AF2217 up to 4 hours, but actual runtime varies with floor resistance, brush load, vacuum use, traction, battery condition and operator settings. The machine with the longer published runtime is not automatically faster on the real route.
Brush Pressure and Floor Compatibility
AF2217 has higher published brush pressure than AF2013. That can be useful on suitable heavier cleaning tasks, but more pressure is not automatically better. The floor finish, brush or pad, detergent, dwell time and operating speed must all be compatible.
When to Move Beyond Both Models
If the route is long enough that operator walking itself becomes inefficient, compare the AF2225 micro ride-on rather than simply choosing the larger walk-behind.
Bottom Line
Choose AF2013 when compact maneuverability and longer nominal runtime matter most. Choose AF2217 when longer routes, larger tanks and powered traction justify the additional machine size. The right choice comes from the route, not from a universal square-foot cutoff.
