What a Mobile Dry Ice Blasting Setup Requires

A mobile setup includes more than the blaster. You need a compressor, air treatment, fresh dry ice, insulated storage, ventilation planning, PPE and a way to transport the equipment safely.

AI30 Reference

AI30: $3,099; 44 lb (20 kg) hopper; 0.66–1.32 lb/min output; 87–116 PSI; 71–141 CFM machine air demand; 3 mm or smaller pellets.

Outdoor Compressor Guidance

For mobile/outdoor AI30 work, select a diesel portable compressor that can sustain the required airflow while the blaster inlet remains within its 87–116 PSI working range. The current AI30 product page lists 125 CFM at 125 PSI as the minimum outdoor/mobile compressor reference and 185 CFM at 125 PSI as the recommended reference. The compressor output is regulated before it reaches the blaster, so the compressor’s rated pressure should not be treated as the AI30 inlet setting.

Air Treatment

Mobile compressors can deliver hot, moisture-laden air. Use an aftercooler, moisture separator, dryer or appropriate filtration as required to provide cooler, drier air.

Dry Ice Logistics

Purchase fresh 3 mm pellets close to the job date and use insulated storage. Dry ice continuously sublimates, so order volume and timing affect usable cost.

AI30 Plus for More Reach

When the job involves trucks or large equipment, AI30 Plus adds a 26 ft blasting hose. More airflow reserve is preferred for frequent extended-hose use.

Safety

Plan for CO₂ ventilation and appropriate PPE. Follow site-specific shutdown and lockout/tagout requirements around machinery and electrical equipment.
